Dear Wedgwood Families,
I am Lily Amar-Strugo and I am the school counselor at Wedgwood. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as well share, what I hope you will find as helpful information in supporting your children both academically as well as social and emotionally. The first of my messages is around greater awareness with the use of the internet and cell phones.
The internet offers many opportunities that can both enhance learning, but also can be inappropriate used and even dangerous for our children when lacking parental or adult guidance. There have been instances when individuals create alter egos in the forms of online avatars and can hide behind these images when abusing the web.
Just as we are cautious with who our children are with and where they are going, the same goes for their time on line. The attached guide covers what you need to know, where to go for more information, and issues to raise with kids about using the web. A reminder for yourself as well as your children: “Once you post information online, you can’t take it back.”
