PTA

Welcome to Wedgwood Elementary! Our Parent Teacher Association is a 100% volunteer-based organization of parents who partner with the school staff and administration to enhance the learning experience of our students. We also support our teachers and staff who work tirelessly during the year to provide our children with a high-quality education and a nurturing environment.

We have a track record of high membership -- in the 2009/2010 school year 77 percent of Wedgwood parents became PTA members. We are the recipients of the 2008-09 Silver Membership Award for increasing our PTA by at least 5 percent over the previous year, and the 2008-09 Bronze Membership Award for enrolling more than 50 percent of the previous year's membership within the first month of school.

The best part of our job is coordinating and sponsoring the many community events throughout the year. Parents pull together in committees to make these events happen, and their efforts are appreciated by the hundreds of families who turn out for a good time. But nothing is more rewarding than seeing the happy faces of our children as they dance at their first dance, look up at the stars through the eyes of a scientist, or fly down the inflatable slide at the carnival — after all, they are the reason we are here.

Officers

PTA Board Officers are elected by the general membership to annual terms towards the end of each school year. Each member can serve a maximum of two years in each post, but must be nominated and elected for that year.
